What are your hours?
The Recreation Office is open Monday - Friday from 8:00am – 4:30 pm. We are closed on the weekend and for holidays. Call us at 846-4108 with any questions.
Are you open during lunch?
Yes, the registration desk is covered during the lunch hour.
How do I get to your location?
We're located at 575 Dorset Street in the Municipal Office Building. We are on the first floor. Our phone number is (802) 846-4108.
I would like to advertise my services in the brochure or to teach classes. Who should I contact?

I would like to volunteer in your programs or coach a youth sports team. How do I start the process?
For an application for volunteering or coaching visit our Volunteer Page, under the Get Involved button above. Click on the link for applications on the left in the gray box. You will need to print it, fill it out and return it to us at the Recreation Office.
What are the dates, times and locations for the recreation programs that the City offers?
The dates, times and locations for our programs depend on the season. Information is available on-line and in our Digital Program Guide for all classes, programs and activities that we offer. Click on the Browse Current Offerings button to the left to see what we are currently offering.
Where can I get a copy of the brochure?
The brochure is distributed twice a year, August and February. The brochure is mailed to all South Burlington residents through the local newspaper, “The Other Paper”. It is placed as an insert into the paper. You can also pick up a copy of the brochure at the following locations; the Recreation & Parks Dept., the lobby of the Municipal Building, the school offices, the library and Cairns Arena. Click on the Digital Program Guide button to the left for a digital copy of the brochure or visit our Online site to view programs. The Online site will have the most updated information on programs and any new programs that have been added. Click on the Browse Current Offerings button to the left to view the site.
How can I register for programs?
You can register in-person, by mail or use our online registration site.
To begin registration click on the Register Now button, to the left, for online and mail in information.
In Person Registration:
For in-person registration please stop by the Recreation and Parks Department at 575 Dorset Street. We have everything you need to get your family signed up.
First-Timers- If it is your first time registering with us print off the Household Information Form, fill it out completely and send it in with the Mail-In Registration Form and payment. This will enable us to put your family into our system and then register your family members.
Already in our System?- if you have registered for a program in the past, you are already in our system and only need to fill out the Mail-In Registration Form and send in with payment. If you need to update any information you can use the Household Information Form and mail that in as well. You will receive a receipt by email once we have entered your registration.
New User- No Account- If you have never registered for a program with us, you are considered a new user and will need to set up a household account. Click on the Register Now button to the left and then click on the Create Account button. Fill out the form and submit it, be sure to add all family members and their information. You will receive confirmation within 24 to 48 hours that your account has been activated, once it is approved and processed. Once you receive your confirmation notice you can now Log-In and use your password to access the online registration site.
First-Time- Have an Account- If you have registered for a program in the past, but have not used WebTrac before, you are a first time user to this site. Your Username is your e-mail, which you have placed on file with us, and your password is your home phone number with no dashes (example: 8025559595). If you have this information you can log onto WebTrac and follow the instructions for FIRST TIME USER. If you need to check this information please contact our office at 846-4108. Once you are logged in it will prompt a screen that will give you the option to change your password. Also you will have to answer two security questions to be used if you forget your password. Click on the Register Now button to the left to begin.
Can I Browse the Online Site without a log on account?-
Yes, as a guest you are able to browse the site and view our program offerings. You do not need a password to view the site. Visit it often for up-to-date program information and New Programs being added regularly. To begin click on the Browse Current Offerings button to the left. To view program information use the search options on the page.
I missed the deadline to register. Is there anything I can do?
Yes, after the deadline for registration or when a program has filled we start a waiting list for programs. As soon as there is a vacancy in the program we will contact you. To add someone to a wait list, call us at (802) 846-4108. You cannot be added to a wait list online. No registrations are accepted after the 2nd meeting of a program.
How do I rent a field?
You must fill out and return to us the “Request for use of Facilities Form”. Click on the link under Quick Links to download or print off the form and a copy of the Facility Use and Fee Policy. We need at least a week’s notice to be able to complete the process.
How do I rent the O’Brien Center?
You must fill out and return to us the “Request for use of Facilities From”. Click on the link under Quick Links to download or print off the form and a copy of the Facility Use and Fee Policy. We need at least a week’s notice to be able to complete the process.
How do I rent the Band Shell?
You must fill out and return to us the “Rotary Band Shell Application”. Click on the link under Quick Links to download or print off the application and a copy of the Band Shell Use and Fee Policy. We need at least a week’s notice to be able to complete the process.
Does South Burlington have a dog park?
Yes. It is located on Kirby Road Extension near the airport. Come visit the beautiful 2.1 acre Dog Park with your canine friend! The park features a separate area for small dogs, scenic views, shade, water and lots of fun! The park is surrounded by a 5ft tall fence and includes several picnic tables. The park is open year round, everyday from 7am-dusk. You can help support the effort by purchasing a dog park T-shirt which can be purchased at the Recreation Office.
Cancellation & Refunds:
The Recreation & Parks Department reserves the right to cancel or consolidate any programs or classes that do not meet the minimum participation number required. A full refund will be issued if we cancel any programs. In the event that a participant cancels out of a program, refunds will be handled as stated in our Refund Policy.
In the event that a participant cancels out of a program, refunds will be handled as stated below. If you have an outstanding balance, the refund will be automatically applied to that balance and any remainder will be refunded. Refund checks take approximately three weeks to process.
Processing Fee- $10.00 or deposit if required is deducted off all refunds. Remaining is refunded as stated.
Remaining Balance- Will be refunded up to one (1) week prior to start of program
No Refund- No Refund will be given if less than the one (1) week prior. Commitments are made to instructors based on numbers one week prior.
Refunds requested before the program/event begins- Refunds will be made only before the start of the class/program for the following circumstances:
When the refund is requested at least seven calendar days in advance of the first class meeting date.
Hardship Termination Policy
The following criteria must be met to quality for a hardship refund:
In case of a job transfer out of the area, the participant or class registrant may receive a prorated refund if he/she provides a letter from his/her Human Resources Department stating that he/she is being transferred including forwarding address and phone number for verification.
In case of medical conditions a participant may receive a pro-rated refund if he/she provides a letter from a physician stating that they are on a medical restriction.
A hardship refund can only be approved at the discretion of the Recreation & Parks Director.
Summer Camp Refund Policy- is the same as the above Refund Policy, but the $25 deposit is deducted from all camps and/or sessions of camp that you cancel out of.
PROGRAM CANCELLATION POLICY:
The Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel or consolidate any programs or classes that do not meet the minimum participation number required. A full refund will be issued if the Recreation Department cancels any programs. We will notify all registered participants of any changes or cancellations to any of the programs in our brochure.
DAY OF PROGRAM CANCELLATION POLICY:
Program meeting days can be cancelled due to inclement weather, facility conditions, and/or other unknown circumstances. Our policy is to make the call of a cancellation at the start time of the program at the location. If we need to cancel and know far enough in advance, all participants will be notified by email and/or phone call. It will also be posted on our website. However, in most cases we make the call of a cancellation the day of and right up to the start time.
In the case where a program is held inside a school facility, all Recreation Department Programs are cancelled any time school is closed or dismissed early.
When it comes to outdoor programs and bad weather conditions, we try and hold off as long as possible before cancelling a meeting day. You can find if a meeting day has been cancelled by calling our Program Hot line at 846-4108 prior to leaving home. If we know in advance a cancelation message will be put on the phone 15-20 minutes prior to the start of the program. However, most of the time we are at the fields to make the decision. A staff member or sign will be at the location to let you know it is cancelled.
We strive to avoid having any cancelled days during a program. If we know far enough in advance we will also post our cancellations on our website Home page at www.sburlrecdept.com.
If we have to cancel a day, we will make every effort to offer a make-up if the facility and instructors are available. If multiple days are cancelled we will not be able to make all of them up, but will do our best to offer a make-up. All participants will be notified by email and/or phone for makeup dates and times.
